Playing like a team possessed, the Albany Devils defeated their I-88 rivals the Binghamton Senators 4-3 at home this past Saturday night. The Devils ran out to a 3-0 lead in the first frame, behind goals from Vladimir Zharkov, David McIntyre and Patrick Davis.
For Davis, who started his professional career in Albany with the River Rats, the goal marked his Devils franchise (Lowell & Albany combined) record tying 110th point with former Rat and Devil Niclas Berfgors.
After two Binghamton goals in the second and third, Matt Anderson swooped in on a loose rebound and put the puck away on the power-play for what turned out to be the eventual winner and his team leading eighth tally on the season.
From there on out goaltender Dave Caruso, recently recalled from ECHL Trenton, held down the fort making 31 stops to record a victory in his Albany home debut.
