In NHL/AHL Nightly Notables we begin north of the border in a duel of two Canadian Northeast Division rivals, the Ottawa Senators and Montreal Canadiens. After being tied at 1-1 after two periods of play the Habs reeled off three unanswered goals in the third. In that third, former Albany River Rat and Canadiens Captain Brian Gionta banked his ninth of the year and picked up his ninth assist as well. Canadiens roll over the Senators, 4-1.
Back stateside closer to home Mark Recchi with his sixth goal of the year, on the power-play won it for the Boston Bruins as they edged the Buffalo Sabres 3-2.
Wrapping up back north of the border in Calgary, former River Rats standout Brendan Morrison notched his 13th assist on a first period goal by Cory Sarich, as the Flames doubled up the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-2.
Down in the AHL the Worcester Sharks also doubled up the Pirates in Portland 4-2. Sharks forward and former River Rat Dan DaSilva registered his fifth goal on the season.
Lastly in Abbotsford the Heat downed the Lake Erie Monsters in a shootout 3-2. Former Rats and Adirondack Phantoms goalie John Grahame posted 35 saves in the loss.
