Phantoms Boarded By Pirates

At this point in the season one has to wonder if the Adirondack Phantoms could indeed defeat Somali pirates or the Pittsburgh Pirates, let alone the Portland Pirates.  Coming off a solid win against the Syracuse Crunch, the Phantoms were looking for consecutive wins for the first time on the year.  Needless to say, it didn’t happen.

Adirondack actually got on the board first with a goal from Luke Pither, his fourth of the season from Mike Testwuide for the one goal lead.  But things fell apart in the third as Portland scored in the first minute of the period on the power-play from Paul Byron and about mid-way through Derek Whitmore capped off the scoring for the Pirates as they skated to a 2-1 victory.

Former Albany River Rats goalie Michael Leighton made 28 saves for the Phantoms in the loss.
