Pucks Player Profile: Brian Rolston

You may have seen him as one of the featured New Jersey Devils in the Albany Devils pre-game “We’re Back!” video.  Today New Jersey Devils forward Brian Rolston has been placed on waivers.  While Rolston would be a welcomed addition and leader in Albany the chances of him landing here are questionable due to lingering cap issues.  Rolston’s professional career of course began in Albany and is the focus of Pucks Player Profile.

One of the most successful Albany River Rats.  Rolston an original has a Stanley Cup to his name with the 1995 New Jersey Devils.  Additionally Rolston has four 30 goal seasons and 323 tallies in his NHL career.  Rolston had 30 points in 35 games for Albany from 1993-95.

After an injury plagued start to his season, Rolston has netted two goals added two helpers and has four points in 15 games with New Jersey.  If Rolston clears waivers and is asked to report to the AHL Albany Devils, New Jersey will still incur a full cap hit.  Should Rolston be claimed by another team in the interm, the Devils will pick up half the tab on his contract.
