Empire State Cup Standings Games Ending January 8, 2011

There are five AHL clubs in New York State, the most of any state in the league.  Those five teams vying for the 2010-11 Empire State Cup are: Adirondack Phantoms (Philadelphia Flyers), Albany Devils (New Jersey Devils), Binghamton Senators (Ottawa Senators), Rochester Americans (Florida Panthers) and Syracuse Crunch (Anaheim Ducks).  The records below indicate the head-to-head standings between the five thus far this season.

Most Recent Update: January 8, 2011  @ Albany: Albany Devils 2 Syracuse Crunch 1.  For the first time this season at home the Albany Devils topped the Syracuse by a count of 2-1.  Goals by Adam Henrique and Matt Anderson along with Mike McKenna standing on his head enabled the Devils to collect two points Saturday night.  @ Binghamton: Binghamton Senators 2 Rochester Americans 1.  One night after posting two goals including the winner against Syracuse, Erik Condra’s marker early in the third was the difference as the Binghamton Senators edged the Rochester Americans 2-1.

The B-Sens lengthen their lead in the Empire State Cup standings, while the A-Devs jump up one spot in the standings.  Interestingly enough both Binghamton and Albany will face-off next Friday at Albany.

1.) 11-4-0-1 (23 points).

2.)8-5-0-2 (18 points).

3.) 8-7-0-1 (17 points).

4.) 7-6-1-0 (15 points).

5.)  4-12-0-1 (9 points).
