NHL/AHL All-Stars Named

Today the NHL and AHL All-Stars rosters were named.  The NHL roster boasts one former Albany River Rat, while the AHL squad has one Albany Devil, one Adirondack Phantom and two former River Rats.

On the season for the New Jersey Devils, Patrik Elias has nine goals and 21 assists for 30 points, good enough to lead the team.  Elias is the only representative for the Devils.

Matt Anderson is tied with Michael Swift for the Albany Devils team lead in goals with 13 and leads the way in assists with 12 and makes the AHL team.

Eric Gustafsson has four goals and 23 assists on the blue line for the Adirondack Phantoms and is their sole representative.

Jerome Samson and his 20 goals pace the AHL squad.  Joining him is Charlotte Checkers Captain and defenseman Bryan Rodney who made the team last year for the Rats with goalie Justin Peters.

Other locally relevant NHL All-Stars, Claude Giroux of the Phantoms parent club in Philadelphia makes it.  Representing the New York Rangers will be defenseman Marc Staal and goaltender Henrik Lundqvist.  The Boston Bruins will also have a d-man and keeper going for them in Zdeno Chara and Tim Thomas.  Habs netminder Carey Price will represent Montreal.  The New York Islanders and Buffalo Sabres are not represented.

However in the rookie game Tyler Ennis will skate for Buffalo, Michael Grabner for the Isles, as will Derek Stepan for the Blueshirts and Tyler Seguin for the B’s.
