Bryan Helmer Earns AHL Player of the Week Honors

Oklahoma City Barons defenseman Bryan Helmer has been named AHL Player of the Week for the period ending on January 16, 2011.  Helmer who got his professional start with the Albany River Rats in 1993, winning a Calder Cup in his five seasons, posted three goals and three assists for a total of six points and garnered a plus-5 rating in three Barons victories. 

Helmer became the top scoring AHL defenseman with 520 points and is closing in on 1,000 games for his American Hockey League career. 

The Albany Devils nominee was forward Adam Henrique.
