In Rinkside Rewind a big-time one-time slapper by one-time Albany River Rat Brian Rolston proved to be the difference maker as the New Jersey Devils held off the New York Rangers 3-2 at MSG. Rolston’s seventh from Patrik Elias gave the Devils their first win of the year over their Hudson River rivals. It was also a big night for Dainius Zubrus who picked up a goal and assisted on Ilya Kovalchuk’s score to get New Jersey on the board. Ryan Callahan and Vinny Prospal recorded tallies for the Rangers.
A wild game in Boston saw the Bruins top the Dallas Stars by a count of 6-3. Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand each had three point nights for the B’s. Even more incredible was the fact that there were three fights within the game’s first four seconds.
In Toronto, Maple Leafs netminder James Reimer made 27 saves for a 3-0 shutout over the Carolina Hurricanes.
Down in Atlanta the Calgary Flames doubled up the Thrashers 4-2. Former River Rat Niclas Bergfors picked up a helper for the Thrashers.
Finally out in Colorado the Avalanche fell to the Minnesota Wild 4-3. Former River Rat Chris Stewart netted his 12th goal of the year and picked up a helper, Kyle Cumiskey also added an assist for the Avs.

Down in Charlotte the Checkers topped the Norfolk Admirals 6-5 in OT. Former Albany River Rat and AHL All-Star Jerome Samson netted the winner in OT for the Checkers with his 24th on the campaign. Other former Rats to get on the score sheet, Jacob Micflicker (20), Chris Terry (19), Zac Dalpe (15). Former Adirondack Phantom Jon Matsumoto added two of his own for the Checkers (13, 14).
