Empire State Cup Standings Games Ending March 5, 2011
There are five AHL clubs in New York State, the most of any state in the league. Those five teams vying for the 2010-11 Empire State Cup are: Adirondack Phantoms (Philadelphia Flyers), Albany Devils (New Jersey Devils), Binghamton Senators (Ottawa Senators), Rochester Americans (Florida Panthers) and Syracuse Crunch (Anaheim Ducks). The records below indicate the head-to-head standings between the five thus far this season.
Most Recent Update: March 5, 2011: @ Albany. Albany Devils 5 Adirondack Phantoms 2. One could say the Albany Devils absolutely posterized the Adirondack Phantoms in a Saturday evening tilt at the Times Union Center. Though Adirondack struck first on a bang-bang goal by Eric Wellwood, Albany took over in the second and never looked back. Alexander Urbom scored on a blast in the second and Steve Zalewski whacked home a rebound with a backhand tally to put the Devils up 2-1 after two. Following that in the third was two laser goals from Alexander Vasyunov and sandwiched between that was Matt Anderson’s 20th marker on the campaign. The rout was on and the Devils demonstrated their dominance over the Phantoms by a count of 5-2.
5.) 6-16-0-1 (13 points).
